Changes to the Supervisory Board of the Bundesdruckerei Group
- Dr Kai Beckmann is the new Chair of the Supervisory Board of Bundesdruckerei Gruppe GmbH and Bundesdruckerei GmbH
- Prof. Willi Berchtold, the previous Chair of the Supervisory Board, resigned from the Supervisory Board after 14 years
- Martina Koederitz is a new member of the Supervisory Board and Chair of the Accounting and Audit Committee
Berlin, 24 May 2023 – There have been changes to the Supervisory Board of the Bundesdruckerei Group: Prof. Willi Berchtold (72), Chair of the Supervisory Board since August 2009, resigned from the Board yesterday. Dr Kai Beckmann (57) was elected as his successor to become the new Chair of the Supervisory Board. Dr Beckmann has been a member of the Supervisory Board of the Bundesdruckerei Group and Chairman of the Accounting and Audit Committee since April 2016. He has been a member of the Executive Board of Merck KGaA since 2011 and is responsible for the Electronics business unit, which he has led as CEO since September 2017.
“Prof. Willi Berchtold’s many years of successful service as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Bundesdruckerei Group have contributed significantly to its successful development and strategic realignment from a mere value printing company to the IT security company of the Federal Government. Important changes and developments took place during his time. Today, the Bundesdruckerei Group offers leading solutions and services in the areas of secure identity, digitisation and cybersecurity. I would like to express our special gratitude to him for this,” says Werner Gatzer, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance, who, among other things, is responsible for federal investments.
Martina Koederitz (59) was newly appointed to the twelve-member Supervisory Board after the departure of Willi Berchtold. Koederitz was responsible for IBM’s German business until 2017. Among other responsibilities, she is also a member of the Supervisory Board of Robert Bosch GmbH and a proven expert in the field of digitisation, with broad management and leadership experience. She was elected as Chair of the Accounting and Audit Committee. “I am very pleased that Dr Beckmann, a long-standing member of the Supervisory Board, has agreed to take over as Chair of the Supervisory Board. I feel the same about Ms Koederitz’s willingness to make her expertise available to the Supervisory Board of the Bundesdruckerei Group. The newly constituted Supervisory Board thus continues to be composed of a very experienced team of individuals with broad national and international management and technology experience”, State Secretary Gatzer emphasises.
Pursuant to the German Co-Determination Act, the Supervisory Board of Bundesdruckerei Gruppe GmbH is composed of equal numbers of shareholder and employee representatives. The changes described above were implemented analogously in Bundesdruckerei GmbH as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bundesdruckerei Gruppe GmbH. Bundesdruckerei GmbH does not have an accounting and audit committee.
